Benton Harbor Public Library, (address above) Referrance Librarian: Jill Rauh. The library holds some of the area's eariest newspapers on microfilm thru present day. Jill will do searches for articles at a fee of $3.00 (for up to three items). Limit of 3 requests per month per consumer. This library also houses the House of David Room.
Berrien Springs Public Library, (address above) is home of the Berrien County Genealogical Society, Library Collection.
Maude Preston Palenske Public Library: (address above) This library holds a collection of early newspapers on microfilm, federal census for Berrien County and many books of genealogical content.
Niles Community Library, Local History Room: (address above) The BEST Genealogical Collection in Berrien County!!
Obituaries: This library has indexed the Niles area obituaries from newspapers! The index currently contains over 75,000 names. It is available for your viewing pleasure at the library (on rolodex or CD) can be purched on CD and is now ONLINE at the libraries web site.
Newspapers on microfilm: Papers on microfilm are the Niles Daily Star from 1835-1996. 1997 is being microfilmed. Berrien Springs Journal Era from 1873-1975. Three Oaks papers from 1876-1960. Berrien County Record, 1869-1935.
Marriage: Berrien County marriage records on microfim 1832-1859.
Other assorted microfilms include: Sanborn Fire Insurance, House of David Scrapbooks, and Isaac McCoy papers.
Census: A complete set of Michigan Census records, including the non-population censuses.
Cemetery Records and Tombstone Readings: Cemetery readings and extractions from sexton records throughout Berrien County include Silverbrook Cemetery and all of Cass County Cemeteries.
Other: Many genealogical referrence books, reproducible forms, membership with Heritage Quest. Patrons can rent microfilm/fiche for in library reading thru the Library's membership with Heritage Quest.
