This cemetery is located on the SE corner of the 39 acres of David Sidney Rector Farm.

Sarah Tabor Rector b. 11 Dec 1819 - d. 14 Nov 1897 (b. Van Buren, Onondago Co., NY to Jonathon Tabor & Rebecca Thomas. Wife of David Sidney Rector.)

David & Sarah had nine children, as follows:

According to a booklet called "The Rector Family - Pioneers of Sodus Township, Berrien County, Michigan" (dedicated to the memory of David Rector and his three sons who came from Sodus, New York 150 years ago, 1836, by Marion R. Rector, 23 pages.) when Otto Bittner bought the Rector property he did not want the burial plot left on the land. Dr. Emma Rector, daughter of David Sidney Rector made arrangements for the bodies to be moved to Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. The bodies were moved from the private property and re-interred in Crystal Springs in 1914.

Rector Cemetery II

Sodus Township, Berrien County, Michigan

This cemetery is located on the west side of the Sodus Public Library. It is thought to be the original burial place of William H. Rector and his wife Louise Hamsley Rector and other members of his family. In 2003 the headstones are not able to be located.
